I may not be able to cook well for my hubby but I can shovel him a spot to get home. And this is Buster- he refuses to come inside.

Buster is a beautiful dog. Cooking is over rated compared to you shoveling snow for Diablo.

Aww such a good wife! Hubby drove out and back in the driveway to give me tracks to use to get out. On the way back I played a bit and tried to run into the drifts to widen the tracks so he would have even wider tracks. Didn’t work out so well as the drifts reached the hood of my truck in places. Had fun but didn’t accomplish much lol. My old dog wants to come in now and even the barn cats have been trying to sneak in to sit on the rug by the door. Our pup will come in if dragged but she’s way too hyper to keep inside for any length of time and I have to stay with her or she knocks things over (8 mo old Great Pyrenees who is several inches taller than our old lab). Of course her breed is more used to the cold and she was a completely outside pup before we got her a month ago. It’s in her blood to prowl and protect the farm animals so I let her do her thing. She took off after a red fox the other day. Rolled it a time or two but didn’t kill it. Just ensured it wouldn’t be coming around again anytime soon. Is your dog a guard dog too? Some dogs of all breeds just have that instinct to protect their humans and their property/turf. They can’t do that inside the house.

Bearnoggin- Thanks for clarifying. I was picturing another Buster. A few years back we had him pull us down the hill in sleds. He thought it was great. He loves getting in on the action. Peeper- Buster loves me but I honestly have no idea if he would protect me. I hope so but I wouldn't call him a guard dog. Thanks, Eva, Kenna, and everyone else.

That’s some impressive work, DP! Buster looks so comfortable and relaxed, like he’s found just the right spot.

Thanks, Tom and JC! Yes, he just plopped right down with the negative wind chill. 😊

I saw our 8 mo old Great Pyrenees mix curled up taking a nap in the snow against a drift today. Silly things has a choice of a super plush bed and a sort of plush bed with a heating mat on top of it and she still chose the snow 🙄.

Peeper, I bought Buster snow boots to keep his feet warm. 😆 He hates them. Clearly he isn't concerned about cold paws- so that was a wasted item.

Several years ago we were taking a trip up to Toronto in the winter & bringing our poodle, Bogy. We bought him snow boots. He wasn't crazy about them....you should have seen him walk in them indoors. So funny! But, he had a ball outside in the snow. We lost him 3 years ago 💔 I still miss him.

Lol. I wanted to buy Peaches a sweater but she dislikes her collar and has already lost the first one. Figured she would do her best to lose the sweater too. Dogs! Lol

Bearnoggin...we aren't sure. Pyrenees and something else. I thought about doing this kit where you can swab his mouth and send it in and they tell you but not sure if I want to spend the money or how accurate it would be.

this is one of my absolute favorite dog channels, and I've learned a ton from it. take a look at the Pyrenean Mastiff one, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ghn76PFfI-E looks like him and explains the behaviors. Other Pyrenee vids here, the "working dog" one is fun. takes all kinds to make the world go round. https://www.youtube.com/c/BullyBadAssTV/search?query=pyrenees
