A lot has been happening. Work has been busy. The house got rewired, which was a huge expense and pain in my ass-but a relief. Had the drywall damage from the electrician repaired and that got finished yesterday. I am so OVER having people in and out of my home and trying to juggle work and house stuff.
I also got another dog on October 6th, because I am out of my effin' mind. Not sure what I was thinking. His name is Oscar. I thought Pablo could use a friend but in actuality, I think I am in way over my head. He is super loving and sweet and just a mutt. We did his DNA and he is 30% Rottweiler and 20% australian shepherd and then just a mix of randoms. He is as dumb as he is sweet. Just have never had such an unintelligent dog. He loves to give kisses and snuggle but can't seem to locate his food bowl. Also incredibly destructive.
Stepdad's eye is healing as expected- or so we were told at yet another Chicago appointment on the 3rd. He will get a prosthetic eye the end of the month. All of this is just reason for me to overeat and not have a chance to go to the gym. Just excuses. So I am still learning how to manage a change in life without letting it derail me or use it as an excuse to say "fuck it" and have to keep restarting. There were actually several days that I could not make it to the gym due to life's disruptions, but there is never a reason to not eat within a normal caloric range. I just enjoy having an excuse. And so I didn't go to the gym today but I have gone the last three. I have so much work to do to get back to where I was. It sickens me to know the work I put in for years is almost completely gone. Fatsecret has taken a backseat for me. I'm just no into it right now- but hopefully as things get back to normal, it will be more of a priority. Thanks everyone for checking in. Hope you are all well. I will say that I was looking at past notes I made and at another time I was this weight- I was in a size 16. I am currently still squeezing my fat ass into a 12 or 14, so I must have some muscle left. Either that or it is vanity sizing- but I would hate to think so.

Glad to hear from you, DP! We had two dogs (sisters) for fourteen years, but they lived in the backyard, with the deer, birds, opossums, squirrels, groundhogs, rabbits, turkey and occasionally a snake. Never saw the local fox in the fence. When one died we let the other one stay inside with us. Anyway, I think you’re right about them needing a second dog as a companion. I hope your workout 🏋️‍♀️ goes well today. Remember: there’s no such thing as a bad workout!

Stupid dogs make the best dogs! Don’t worry about it, once he understands he is home everything will work itself out. Most only take a couple months, my most recent took just about a year!

Hang in there, DP. You are "willing to be willing" which means you are on the right track! Bless you for adopting Oscar. A star in your crown, and he will reward you many times over!

I empathize with the toooo much in your world. I really need to figure out how I keep allowing that to happen. I am in charge of my schedule. Maybe I need to Fire me? 🔥🔥🔥I am obviously not qualified for the job! Hang in there. This too shall pass. Remind yourself, you have to take care of yourself, to be able to take care of others! Sometimes that has to be my mantra!

DP you still rock!!! Btw I love the Mexican drug lord names for the dogs, if that was what you were going for. Just wish I thought of that. 😂 Pablo Escobar and Oscar Malherbe de Leon. 🤣🤣

Thanks for sharing your story which is impressive. I see your achievement, positive energy and strong will for a healthy life. I am also thinking to adopt a stray dog or cat some other day when I will be able to take care of others. I wish you all the best. 💖

Well crap. Now I'm really gonna push the "I'm fatter than you" envelope! Just like D and I had a race to 200 (that took an extra year lol), you and I will race to size 8. To be honest, I have no idea how big a size 8 is, but it's our goal by spring, okay? Or maybe spring of 2024 depending....

In any case, I didn't realize all the stress (or the impulse adoption of the new dog). Remember all the long walks with the dog? Now there's two, so you'll burn twice as many calories trying to corral them as they go in opposite directions lol. You're fine though. No need to start over. Slow progress/continuation isn't backsliding, it's just less than perfect.... but we're all less than perfect (except that slab of meat with a hat you live with). Just don't stop altogether. "A rolling stone gathers no Hershey's syrup" as they say.

Mike- that's hysterical. I always call him Pablo Picasso but the kids have preferred Escobar. I was not aware of the Oscar guy but now that I've Googled it, I feel like we need to roll with it. 😄

Thanks Draglist! Same to you and yours! Tom, the boys saw their first snow fall today. Pablo was apprehensive. Oscar was too dumb to think it could even possibly be dangerous. After about 30 seconds of wonder, they started attacking each other and going nuts as usual. Thanks, D-eatscupcakes. It's very filtered which I don't do for fs photos but too unattractive not to these days. 😜 Hi sherry, Chris, Melissa and everyone else. Having coffee and an English muffin and cleaning the heck out of everything in sight when I'm done. Enjoying the snowfall and relaxing for another ten minutes first. Happy Saturday, all.

Beautiful dogs! Not blurry on my phone. You will be fine. Hang in there and keep your head high.

You sound great and I like the blond you. I've let mine go grey/white and just pull it back with a clip, easy, peasy. The dogs appear to be happy together, and Oscar will learn to follow Pablo's lead, so he'll be okay. Remember, my friend, to love yourself is the greatest love of all. You are most definitely worthy.

DP I love your posts!❤️ Oh no, an Australian Shepard? No dog is more energetic, but they are supposed to be one of the sharpest dog’s on earth, yours must be defective or just has the Rottweiler brain. Although they’re suppose to be super intelligent as well. 🙃 I want only senior dogs now in my senior years. Ones that love lying around – for that’s their job!😁 Oh, so happy rewiring is over for you. Congratulations!!👏👏👏 We need rewiring as well, yet the cost, mess, and having to take time off from work to have strangers in the house is a total turn off! How many days did they take doing this? Well, I just want you to know I love your posts and will be thinking of your new life with two new dogs. You can absolutely conquer anything!!!💕👍 Did you ever walk into a room and forget why you walked in? I think that is how dogs spend their lives. 😆

I have a rottweiler lab mix--not the brightest pup but super sweet. I also have a mini aussi who is about 10 mos he is pretty dang smart. Like your aussi mix loves his dog buddies.

From my minimal understanding, an Australian Shepherd is bred to be a working dog, and thrives on learning commands and being kept busy following instructions. I’ve seen a competition where they followed whistles in one category and hand signals in another, herding sheep through gates, in or out of pens, and various configurations unknown until the day of competition.
