So true, if it saves you then good. Thats like hiring a maid to clean your house and expecting kudos for a clean house

Also, naturally skinny people can skip giving weight loss advice, thanks. They may know about maintenance (unless they have a crazy metabolism), but they often don't know about (arguably) the most important aspect of weight loss -- changing habits.

Agree with Zapotz! I have been here long enough to not listen to people who think they know it all and give unsolicited advice, or think they know what I should do. And, DP, I have been down the same road as you. I also chose not to do medical interventions.

Most of those I know that have had weight loss surgery gained at least part of their weight back. My daughter in law had the surgery & she was very slim. Many things she eats now make her sick. She was not able to maintain the loss but she is smaller than she was before the surgery.

Nothing comes with a 100% guarantee. If you have an opportunity to do something that will improve how you view yourself(health/mental/physical/spiritual), then have the courage to do it. I’m sure your sister looks and feels great in her new body.

🤗 interesting for sure! I know two who had bariatric surgery. They don’t look well at all. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Happy Thursday!

I know one person who took the lifestyle change to heart and has maintained for some 15 years. I know a handful of others who haven't. I don't consider skin removal to be the same thing at all. If it affects your happiness, do it when you hit that goal and then work like hell to maintain. Life is too short.

As a disabled person who lives a sedentary lifestyle, the surgery’s been offered to me before. I didn’t get it but people who did still deserve praise. Everybody struggles somehow, even if you don’t understand.

Ouch superman, that hurt. If I were younger, I would definitely have surgery after extensive weight loss. Of course, I think you'd need to maintain for a while first, just to be confident that the weight is gone forever.

Well say a person gets muscle implants, should they expect kudos for it? It was bought not built. There was no work put into it. The kudos would be hey man nice that you could afford it lol but loose skin removal is a different story since there’s nothing much you could do about it.

I'm not against skin removal surgery or weight-loss surgery. But you must learn to maintain or you won't be successful long term. Just like someone that loses without surgery.

That's hilarious about your Google mini! Maybe it has a complex because it's mini and can only give you a short answer? At least Google bedroom got game! He sounds like a keeper!!! 🤣😂🤣😂

I'm not against either surgery. I would love my loose skin gone but in too chicken. Bearnoggin- it is crazy how much the downstairs Google gives me issues. Hubby and kids can vouch for her bias against me.

I don't know much about weight loss surgeries. But I remember a co-worker's wife had something done. She had to be on a strict diet for awhile before the surgery. I thought if she could do that, why have the surgery. And I am pretty sure she gained the weight back. And a co-worker had something done that made her stomach smaller. She only had to lose something like 40 or 50 pounds. She gained it all back. I don't understand what that does to the stomach if you start eating enough to gain weight. Whether you diet to lose or you have the surgery you have to eat less food. I can understand the surgery for loose skin. But I've heard it's very painful and doubt I would do it at my age.

That person goes through a lot to even get there. I see why they need psych consult for clearance. Plus the body through what I called butchering to get rid of the flabby skin. All that is so traumatic and some people are successful and some aren’t. It can reverse type 2 diabetes some get a rebound in twice their size. It’s a lot but there’s a lot more fun and great rewards if the person can lose the weight on their own . Just saying.

Lol, Petra. I had a meeting yesterday with HR and I was telling her about it. She stopped using hers because it listens to everything. I'm pretty boring so it's worth the trade off of no true privacy. Now- when I find out there are cameras installed as well- 😬 that would be a different story. 😳

I’ve had gastric surgery, had it removed due to health issues, I was borderline malnourished. Gained weight after reversal, lost weight (naturally), had skin removal on stomach. Gained weight again 🤦♀️ so yeah it’s “all mental” for most of us. I know what to do. I’ve succeeded before but this thing called life can be a royal pain sometimes.
I’m not against surgeries either but you really need to figure out why you overeat. Not you beautiful DP, I know you own shit just like I own mine but many others.

I looked up bariatric surgery after I made a comment. It sounds pretty scary, the surgery. I've only had surgery once, to have my gallbladder removed and it took me over a year to finally decide to do it and it was nothing as extreme as the weight loss surgeries. I understand it can be necessary for some people who have serious health issues and are severly obese so have difficulty exercising or even being moderately active. I am just such a chicken I doubt I would ever do that or have loosened skin removed.
