Struggling. Eating like crap from stress and everything else. I have 4 close friends who are on Zepbound. I need help and I am looking forward to hopefully getting something soon. It is across the board everyone saying you don't feel hungry, you don't think about eating so you can make healthier choices. Exercise isn't the issue- but the eating is hard for me to regulate. If it's cheating- so be it... I'll pick up a weekend job to pay for it if I have to. That's where I'm at.

Years ago I heard Dr Oz talk about how no one bats an eye when someone with Cancer starts radiation (which can harm you). But everyone freaks out when you start a diet or take pills, injections, etc. Obesity related diseases kill far more people than cancer. Ever since then I cannot stand when someone tells me, “don’t go too crazy”, “all in moderation”, “slow and steady”, “be careful” or any other version of crap. We need to start fighting for our lives against preventable diseases the same way. [end of rant] I struggled and debated for a while before starting a semaglutide. I was shocked at my annual check up in November to hear that I had gained 50 lbs over the course of a year, was prediabetic, insulin resistant, was already on blood pressure medicine, and had sleep apnea. I was beyond disgusted with myself and the realization that even if I lost 100lbs - I’d still be medically declared obese. I started eating a strict keto diet, 35 carbs or less and that kick started my weight loss. A few weeks later I started the semaglutide injections and all I can say is do it. I’ve had zero side effects. I still have hunger and cravings, but they are so much more minimized.

DP, from what I have read, if you combine the semi-glutides with changing your eating habits, there is no rebound of weight. The rebounds come when you stop the injections and you continue to eat poorly. Your summary of things you have tried in the past to lose weight are very similar to mine, I have lost 600+ pounds over the last 38 years using every method under the sun. Like you, I did well at first, I could lose 100 pounds in a year, then I would gradually begin to gain...mainly because 1) something changed in my life and I could not spend hours and hours working out 2) My love for bread and pasta would re-establish itself 3) Work, family, relationship stress would have me reaching for self comfort with food. Sometimes it was just one sometimes it would be all of them. I would go for years unable to get the focus to just start and that would stress me out too. You know what to do, if you need a boost to get your self started....boost away. I have said it a thousand times, we are all on the same path, some of us just create our own on the way to getting there. I get eyebrows raised at me for what I am doing right now, but I feel good, it's working for me. According to my Dr. I am healthy....just fat 😜 So it's not the path everyone chooses, it's the one I feel I need. You do what you feel you need to get to where you need to go.

DP, do what you think will work for you. Just stay informed about the side effects, short term and long term. I think you are in a place where this may be what you need to jump start your weight loss. Use it as a tool to get yourself in a place where you can make healthy food choices. 🩷🩷

Not sure what zepbound is. But I have started semaglutide injections. They are not a cure all for weight loss. I personally have a lot of knowledge with health and wellness. I was even studying to be a nutritionist before devastating tragedies happen back to back in 2019 a 5 months later the pandemic happened. I struggle a lot with my mental health. I have a laundry list of mental disorders so when the world fell apart so did I. But I did my research went and had my levels for vitamin deficiencies and my hormones tested because no matter what I did the weight would not come off! I found I I’m deficiency in 2 vitamins and in perimenopause! At 35! It’s been going on a while and I finally had enough! So now I’m getting my hormone replacement therapy vitamin shots and weight loss shots. With that said i hired a dietitian cover by my insurance!!! Threw and app! Called nourish! Can you believe it my insurance covers it too! Because I’ve herd the stories of ozempic and people thinking it’s a cure all and doctors saying they need to be on it the rest of their lives! What they aren’t saying is it’s eating peoples muscle mass! Which is dangerous because alot of doctors are not teach people how to eat on the medication. MBut if you learn your body and how to eat and make it second nature to eat healthy you’ll learn quick healthy meals. These medications are a tool not a cure or magic solution. Over time you wing off and you know what to do to keep the weight off and even keep losing! Hope things look up for you! Stay positive.

One thing that I find confusing or inaccurate is this talk of “food noise going away” with weight loss meds. The truth is that, if you want to use the time of suppressed appetite to improve your eating habits and overall relationship with food, you will THINK MORE about food, not less. If only to plan and prep your meals so that the limited calorie budget is spent on those nutritious AND satisfying foods that you can imagine yourself eating regularly forever, in those smaller portions that you learn by heart as they are weighed out and calculated. That takes a lot of food-focused mental energy. You also sometimes have to force yourself to eat, shocking as that may be. There is no taking a “break” from food even if overeating stops.

quitting carbs would also solve your issue. but I guess medication is the modern way. 🤷‍♂️

DP, I understand. Three months on Oz (severe side effects for me) I lost my 22lb. My appetite was gone totally though. Then I hopped off went to Europe 2 weeks, back for hysterectomy straight to menopause, other trip to Europe to clear my childhood home and put mom in assisted living. Oh yes, then I went into my peak at work (the airport). I’ve regained 11lb The food noise and craving are terrible under stress. I relate and understand. Can’t wait for you to find your groove again. Let’s get it!!! I’m back on it after my trip I’m on now. Oh and I’m headed to therapy to help me understand my triggers. We got this 💙

It’s hard right, but those drugs only work for as long as you take them. Have you tried CBD for stress relief? Walking or yoga may help too. A religious practice or mantra may help. I do, Lord I’m not hungry, help me not eat. As you can see I struggle with stress eating too! Managing your stress levels may help if it’s stress eating. All these things have helped. I’ve also found a little relief with berberine. It’s a natural supplement that lowers your appetite. You can only take it six months though and you have to go off. Good luck!

Yohoyoh- Done that and it did cause weight loss due to less calories. Every single thing on my list on my above comment worked- until I couldn't stick with it. Medication is something I am looking forward to. The modern way will work for me- I pray. You've been through it all, Blondie. Thanks for your understanding.

DP I know inthe past you’ve said you’ve tried it all…have you ever tried drugs before? I know nothing about drugs for weight loss. Sounds a bit concerning but I understand I guess where you might feel you have no choice?! Idk. Please make sure you know the side effects and one question, are these drugs for the rest of your life? If not, what happens when you stop taking them?

It’s always amazing to see so many opinions. You do you girl! It doesn’t matter which path we take, we’re on the same journey. Support always.

Wifey-I was prescribed Phentermine? Unsure of spelling- in 1999. I lost 22 pounds the first month and 14 the next... then stopped it. Gained back all and then some. I did not have any understanding of calories or macros or exercise at all. I was walking on a treadmill for 30 minutes and acting like I was killing it. LOL. I used ephedra in 2002ish for awhile. Exercised a lot and ate less. It would wear off by the end of the day so I had to keep myself in check and I did well. I went from 296 pounds to 185 with diet and exercise and for a portion of that time I used ephedra. Got married and pregnant and ate myself back up... on and on it goes. I think with my knowledge- I will not regain it. I am hoping to not take anything for too long. I am not even sure I will be prescribed anything so I am putting the cart before the horse. And also- my b/p was high when I took it at work. I have always for my whole life been about 110/68ish. This was 146/88 and it freaks me out and I am disgusted and need to get a jump start. We'll see what happens. IDK how it will play out.

Take good care of yourself DP. If you want to private message me to chat, I am always here for you. On my observation and I could be way off, but I think you started to go downhill after your brother passed. I know he would want you to be healthy and well and that’s what I want for you. 🙏🏻❤️‍🩹 And I know that’s what you want for yourself.

Yeah, I know. I don't really need to chat about anything. I need to just get it together and when stuff happens- go to the gym instgead of eat. Thanks, girl!

Hey, so I know you've gotten a lot of advice but thought I'd share my experience. I've debated since it's a controversial subject 😬 But I've had a few friends who did semiglutide too, both who look amazing btw. It's a slow process but they say you can lose up to 1 lb a week although some lose more. So I had liked into it a few times but wasn't going to because it's SO expensive and I do not like having to take medications. No judgmental at all to anyone who does, I was just raised with a mom who took herbs so natural is my first go-to. But I'm June when I was diagnosed with PCOS my dr said i should take semiglutide. The side effects she said are usually only with someone predisposed with thyroid issues so she said I was safe to do it. But she said it would help me not just for weightloss, but with all my other issues with beginning of insulin resistance, cholesterol, hormones, etc. So I thought about it for a few weeks then tried it. So I stayed at a lower dose as I was wary (even though it's just insulin which your body needs) and those weeks I didn't lose beyond my own efforts, but maintained which was huge for me as my body gains super easily with my imbalances. I also found it did help with cravings and wanting to eat better. (To be continued...)

(Continued...) I am planning on starting again Sunday as it made it easier for me to lose weight, and not gain back. Then I'll work up to the full dose and see how my body responds. But I plan on using it again till i get down to my goal then I'll be able to maintain it with healthy eating. But getting down is the hard part so I understand your struggles. Good luck to you!

Teresa- that's my plan. My cousin just started it, too. She's the 5th person I know. On the lowest dose because she just started. She's doing well so far but definitely wants it a bit stronger.

Might I suggest you track your nutrient saturation. Look at your B vitamin intake as the B family has tremendous value in the body's ability to utilize energy sources, ie fat and carbs. This is key in the livestock industry as we wring every nutrient from every feed source and understanding the mechanism of conversion is the key. Jarrow offers a qualify B complex. B is a water soluble compound and can be taken at a much higher dose when needed for a possible deficiency.
